Heri Sutrisno: A taste of heaven – the delicious new buzz in Bali

Causing quite a stir too - from a rather expected source at that - are the delightful desserts being served up to the tantalize the taste buds of the guests and local residents alike.
The creations of Chef Heri Sutrisno are set to become the new buzz of Bali.
A native of Bali and the youngest of six siblings, Heri's culinary foundation was laid by his mother when, at the age of 16, he started helping her prepare meals for the family. And so his love for preparing food was catapulted; embarking him on a culinary journey that would see the realistion of his dreams and set the tone for a colourful career...
"Being born in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and like many other Balinese, I was determined to pursue a career in hospitality - and as a professional cook, where my heart lay.
After graduating from the Bali Tourism Training Institute, I attended a six-month on the job training at a hotel in Nusa Dua before starting my first position as an apprentice in the main kitchen of the Hyatt Regency Bandung.
After three years there, the role of Chef de Partie in the pastry and bakery section was mine!
To mark this achievement, I created a tiramisu that went on to become famous in Bandung - claimed by many people in the city to be the best they've ever tasted! Tiramisu has always had a special spot in my heart...
It's not just a dessert - it's Italy! So smooth... My curiosity for international cuisine landed me positions with cruise liners and later a chef position in the United States where I gather up lots of new recipes and developed a love for cheesecake!
Cooking is an art. Turning raw ingredients into beautiful creations gives me great satisfaction. But my heart truly lies in making pastries, cakes and cookies, because it allows me to indulge all my senses.
I love the rich red colour of fresh strawberries, the sweet taste of caramel, the fine texture of baking flour and the smell of freshly baked bread... My work here at Anantara is cut out for me.
I can enjoy all the things I love with producing the finest quality treats for guests and visitors to enjoy. And if it's something that makes people talk, like my desserts, well, I can't think of anything that would make me happier!"
